About Mack

Mack is a theatre director, deviser, stage manager, and visual artist currently based in Chicago, IL. Mack is originally from South Carolina and Southern Illinois and  graduated with their BA in Directing from the Webster Conservatory for Theatre Arts  in May 2020. Favorite pastimes include making  overly  specific  playlists,, enjoying a  back porch, and pacing.

Mack's artistic statement is as follows:

As an artist, I am most inspired when working on big, spectacle musicals or in small, devising or conceptual pieces. At first glance these may seem disconnected but what I am so attracted to within these types of theatre  is my love for hyper-stylization and creating the “impossible”. In  an  age  where  we  are  inundated  with  technology,  AI,  and  screens  that  tell  us  how  to  play,  I  believe  that  theatre  can  be  used  as  a  tool  to  encourage  imagination  and  self  creation  in  audiences  and  performers  of  all  ages.  I firmly believe that life is absurd and theatre should be too.
